There are a lot of great places for pizza in Birmingham right now, which is an absolute godsend! I’m a huge fan of pizza (I mean, who isn’t though?) and I’m a little bit of a pizza snob. Although I do enjoy the occasional Dominoes-style pizza, it’s gotta be proper Italian pizza for me! I recently had a lovely holiday in Italy and ate incredible pizza every single day, and it’s lovely that I don’t have to stray too far from home to recreate these amazing pizza memories! So here’s my top 3 places for pizza in Birmingham right now, as well a list of other places I’ve been recommended and are on my list to try.

Laghi’s Deli

I have already written an entire blog post on Laghi’s Deli (@laghisdeli) because it is my one true love. Fresh ingredients, stunning food, lovely staff and so much more, Laghi’s Deli is the BEST Italian restaurant in Birmingham. The pizzas here are fantastic and they have plenty of great options.

Buffalina (tomato, mozzarella, buffalo mozzarella)

This is their buffalo mozzarella pizza and, wow, it was incredible! The buffalo mozzarella was the best I’ve had outside of Italy.

Lumberjack (tomato, mozzarella, mushrooms, parma ham)

This one was equally as fantastic – if you’re a fan of Italian cured meats, this is the one for you!

Rudy’s Neapolitan Pizza

I’ve also previously written a blog post on Rudy’s (https://diningwithali.com/2019/07/20/rudys-authentic-neapolitan-pizza-in-birmingham/). Rudy’s (@rudyspizzabirmingham) have several restaurants around the UK and their pizzas are true Neapolitan pizzas – in fact, they are similar to th-ose I had in Naples earlier this year. The prices are super reasonable, and they also do great starters and desserts. Great location right in the city centre so if you’re ever stuck for choice while doing some shopping, I’d highly recommend!

Tomato, mozzarella, prosciutto, rocket, extra virgin olive oil

This combination of pizza toppings is my all-time favourite, so wherever I see it on a menu I just HAVE to try it. The bases here are absolutely stunning – so soft and thin!

Nduja, mozzarella, Gorgonzola, basil

As well as their great menu options, they also have a meat special and a vegetarian special each day. This incredible concoction was their meat special. The gorgonzola was absolutely fantastic and there was plenty of it!

Margherita con buffala (tomato, buffalo mozzarella, basil)

Franco Manca

On the same street as Rudy’s is Franco Manca (@francomancapizza), another new addition to Bennetts Hill. They specialise in sourdough-based pizzas, and they really are fantastic. Similarly to Rudy’s they have a core menu and a couple of specials each day. This is another must-try!

Tomato, mozzarella, green peppers, meatballs
Tomato, mozzarella, basil
Mozzarella, wild mushrooms, cured ham, ricotta

Each of these pizzas was delightful, and I really do LOVE their bases!

Recommendations

There’s a few other pizzas places that I am DYING to try – can’t wait to get my hands on all this great pizza!
