Ground Beef Tacos

A non-authentic ground beef taco recipe. Easy to make and perfect to share. Includes a recipe for guacamole and pico de gallo.

Ingredients

For the tacos

  • 500 g ground beef mince ideally 5% fat
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or another oil of your choice
  • 1 tsp BBQ seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 12 Soft flour tortillas for tacos

For the guacamole

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 lime juiced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/8 red onion finely chopped
  • Bunch coriander chopped

For the pico de gallo

  • 10 small tomatoes e.g. Cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 lime juiced
  • 1/2 red onion finely chopped
  • Bunch coriander chopped
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Add oil to large pan at medium heat. Brown mince then remove some of the fat (optional).Once browned, turn to low heat and add all seasonings. Simmer at low heat for 10-20 minutes. For the guacamole, smash the avocado (and much as you'd like) and add all the other ingredients. Add lime juice, salt and pepper to taste. For the pico de gallo, chop tomatoes and add together with all other ingredients. Heat up flour tortillas in pan (or in the microwave), then assemble:
  • Heat oil at a medium heat in a large pan.
  • Brown mince then remove some of the fat (optional).
  • Once browned, turn to a low heat, add all seasonings and 1 cup water. Simmer at a low heat for 10-20 minutes.
  • For the guacamole, smash the avocado (as much as you'd like) and add garlic, coriander and red onion (optional). Add lime juice, salt and pepper to taste.
  • For the pico de gallo, chop tomatoes and add together with all other ingredients.
  • Heat up the flour tortillas in pan (or. microwave) and assemble as you would like. As an alternative method, heat up the tortillas in a frying pan with a small amount of butter. Add grated cheese to half and allow to melt before adding mince. Fold and flip until browned. on both sides. Add toppings.

Notes

You can substitute the seasonings for any you would like. To make it even easier, grab a taco or fajita seasoning (e.g. Old El Paso).
Here's how I assemble mine - mince, guacamole, pico de gallo, soured cream, coriander.
This recipe is for 4 people - 3 tacos each. However,  you can have as many as you'd like. The ground beef can also. be frozen. Defrost in the fridge for 18-24 hours. Re-heat in pan. until hot.
